This term we are going to be holding a farmers' market at the end of term. To prepare for this we need to decide what we should plant most of to make sure we grow what people want to buy.
We've created a google form to help us find out what you would like us to plant. We'd love you to fill it in for us!

Harvesting our practice garden
Holding a mini market stall
Visiting the Entertainment Quarter markets
Clearing out the garden
Planting out our new plants
We found these bean seeds when we dug up the garden. They sprouted in the wheelbarrow in some water so we planted them in cups to see if they would grow.
Look at what happened!
Learning about graphic design.
We were very lucky to have a graphic designer (Ruby in the Seahorses class's Dad) come and talk to us about how to create a great design to persuade people to come to our farmers' market. We learnt a lot about typography, layout, colours, images and how to put all of that together to create a great promotion!
We have been thinking of some ideas for planning how to persuade people to come to our fabulous farmers' market.
Noticing changes in the garden.
Today we went for a walk around the garden and noticed all the changes that have happened since it started raining last week. Have a read of our blog to learn about the changes we noticed.
Making our market posters
We worked with the iPads to take photos, draw pictures and create posters to advertise our market. We worked outside so we could take photos of the garden and it gave us more space to work.
We have printed out our posters and put them up all around the school to let people know about the market. We hope lots of people come along!
Creating radio ads
We listened to some radio ads and decided what they used to be persuasive. Here's the features we identified. We used these to help use write scripts and record our own ads. These are our goals.
Making a delicious salad
Yesterday we went out into the garden and we saw that Becky's zucchini had grown big enough to eat. We picked lots of leafy vegetables and herbs to make into a salad. We picked: basil, lettuce, spinach, mint, lemon balm and silverbeet. We tore up the leaves into pieces and put them in a bowl. Then Ms Hostrup used a vegetable peeler to peel off strips of zucchini and put it in the salad. Then we ate the salad. Ms Smith came to have some too. It was delicious and healthy!
